Senior Engineer, Transmission Lines

AusNet Services is seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer, Transmission Lines to join our Asset Management team in Southbank. As a key member of our team, you will provide technical expertise to Asset Management in Transmission Lines and Structures, driving real outcomes and making a significant impact in our rapidly changing energy landscape.

About the Role:

  • Provide technical expertise associated with overhead lines from 66 kV to 500 kV and technical expertise associated with tower structures (including communications towers).
  • Provide expert input to asset management strategies and philosophies, line performance, technical specifications, and the development of equipment standards.
  • Determine line ratings and publish these ratings for Victorian Planning purposes (currently AEMO).
  • Initiate projects (develop concepts, prepare business cases, and project handover documentation).
  • Support implementation of asset management and asset replacement initiatives along with business case development for economic capital works plans.
  • Support long-term asset reliability and resilience plans and regulatory submissions.
  • Review, assess, and audit the condition of installed transmission line assets.
  • Investigate and analyze transmission line equipment failures or problems, drafting reports, etc.
  • Make technical decisions in relation to transmission lines and approve relevant technical documentation.
  • Provide support for emergency response events, as required.

What We're Looking For:

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil/Structural or Electrical Engineering.
  • Understanding of Asset Management leading practices, frameworks, and relevant standards.
  • Understanding of relevant Australian and International standards and industry codes of practice.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing strategic asset management plans, preferably in a regulated environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of transmission system components, equipment, and technologies, with a focus on transmission lines and emerging trends and innovations.
  • Knowledge of relevant software packages used for analysis and design of transmission lines and structures, e.g., PLS-CAD suite.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to leverage data-driven insights to inform decision-making and optimize asset performance.
  • An advanced level of reasoning skills and engineering judgment.
  • Professional body membership: National Engineering Registration.
