Job Overview:

Track Maintenance Trainee Role

This role involves working with the Track Curator and Assistant Curator to develop knowledge and skills in track preparation and facilities/grounds maintenance.

Primary responsibilities include working outdoors, assisting with preparing a satisfactory racing and trialling surface, setting up and maintaining track infrastructure, and utilizing machinery to maintain grounds through fertilising, mowing, trimming, pruning, and watering.

The position requires flexibility as it involves a combination of early starts, afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts to align with race meeting and trial schedules.

Key aspects of the job include collaborating with the GRV Track Maintenance and Infrastructure team and GRV Race Day Stewards, gaining practical experience, and completing structured learning activities towards a nationally recognised Certificate III in Racing Services (Track Maintenance).

About Your Workday:

  • Assist with daily track maintenance tasks such as checking and maintaining track equipment, inspecting for any damage or wear, and ensuring the track is safe and ready for racing.
  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve shared goals and objectives.
  • Develop skills and knowledge in areas such as track preparation, machinery operation, and health and safety protocols.
  • Attend and participate in training sessions, workshops, and meetings as required.
