The Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect (Connect Centres) will form a vital component of the integrated services provided in the reformed Mental Health and Wellbeing system in Victoria.
Services will be provided primarily by a team of individuals with personal experience as carers, and will offer support to families, carers, kin, and supporters of individuals facing mental health challenges, psychological distress, mental illness, or substance use concerns.
This is an opportunity for Volunteers to engage in a range of support activities that empower carers/supporters and family members to make meaningful change in their lives and the lives of the people they are supporting.
Volunteer activities include:
- Welcome new people to the centre
- Provide an overview of the centre's activities
- Collect details of carers/supporters who attend the centre (if they wish to provide them)
- Assist speakers/activity facilitators with group activities
- Provide a warm, inclusive, and welcoming approach
- Attend groups as a lived experience/carers supporter/family member
- Share experiences/strategies/knowledge during group sessions
- Participate in group work training to develop skills for co-facilitation
- Contribute ideas and reflections during group activities
- Assist with transport of carers/supporters to and from events
This rewarding opportunity allows you to join a team shaping the future of mental health and wellbeing in Victoria.
If you have experience caring for a loved one along their mental health journey and can see yourself helping others in our community, we'd love to hear from you.
