About the Group The Investment and Technology group leads and manages investments; drives commercial advice and negotiations to facilitate reform; and enables core delivery through Finance, Procurement and Enterprise Technology.

About the Role This is a five year fixed term SES 2 role As Executive Director, Budget Strategy and Portfolio Assurance, you will shape the department's strategic budget direction and lead initiatives that deliver value for the Victorian community. You will report to the Deputy Secretary and oversee the development of new funding strategies, identify revenue opportunities, and drive reforms to strengthen financial sustainability.

You will lead an assurance function that provides governance, systems, and capability frameworks to optimise resource allocation and deliver project benefits. This is a role for a leader who thrives on influence and collaboration. You will work closely with senior executives, Ministers' offices, central agencies, and partners across government and industry to align budgets and investments with long-term priorities.

You will play a pivotal role in the development of the annual State Budget, ensure risk and cost are effectively managed, and deliver frameworks that lift capability across major projects. We seek a strategic, outcome-focused leader with proven experience in budget strategy, project assurance, and stakeholder engagement in complex environments.

You will inspire teams, champion a high-performance culture, and provide authoritative advice on emerging challenges and opportunities. Your leadership will help shape decisions that deliver long-lasting benefits for Victoria.

Qualifications and Key Skills

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in finance, economics or related discipline
  • A proven record of leading a commercial function in a large complex organisation
