Senior Mobility Platform Engineer

This role is focused on modernising and improving the core systems that power a cutting-edge mobility platform.
- Take on high-impact engineering work, technical spikes, and platform upgrades
- Refactor legacy components into more modern, modular services
- Lead proofs of concept for new approaches, such as .NET Core adoption, containerisation, and platform decoupling
- Support backend and service modernisation, including messaging, observability, and performance tuning
- Improve CI/CD pipelines and developer experience as we transition towards more automated, cloud-friendly workflows
- Contribute to the evolution of our architecture, including the adoption of event-driven patterns where they add value
This requires a strong architectural mindset who can work across modern and legacy systems, understand how the pieces fit together, and guide the platform forward. The role focuses on incremental modernisation—improving and evolving existing systems while respecting critical components in production.
The ideal candidate will combine practical engineering with a vision for modularity, automation, and modern delivery practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications:- A degree in engineering or related field — or demonstrate equivalent experience
- 6+ years of professional development experience
- 3+ years of hands-on experience building internal and/or external web services
- 3+ years writing clean, well-structured unit, integration, and component tests, with a strong grasp of the test pyramid
- Possesses demonstrable experience with modern web frameworks
- Strong working knowledge of SQL and a good foundational understanding of relational design
