Enterprise Engineering: Radiation Effects Test Engineer II

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a Radiation Effects Test Engineer II, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and safety of our space vehicles and systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute radiation testing strategies for avionics hardware used in Blue Origin missions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate radiation effects on electronic systems.
  • Design and implement radiation test setups and procedures.
  • Analyze and interpret radiation test data to inform design and testing decisions.
  • Interface with radiation test facilities and vendors to schedule and perform tests.
  • Maintain and improve Blue Origin's radiation test database and capabilities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 2+ years of direct radiation experience in design, analysis, and/or testing.
  • Hands-on experience performing component/system radiation effects testing and employing measurement hardware.
  • Basic understanding of radiation effects on electronics.
  • Electrical engineering fundamentals and familiarity with laboratory equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduate degree in related engineering or technical field with 3+ years of direct experience in radiation design, analysis, and testing.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python and/or NI LabView.
  • Familiarity with radiation environment modeling tools and radiation transport codes.
