The role of a Wildlife Collections Manager is critical to the success of our animal populations. As a proactive and knowledgeable leader, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimum health and diversity of our animals by effectively managing species programs across taxonomic groups.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Managing animal population management, husbandry, and welfare across our facilities;
- Developing and implementing our Animal Population Management plan in line with our Strategic Plan and National Trust of Australia (Queensland) Vision and Mission;
- Ensuring strong relationships across Zoo Networks to manage our present animal collection and future pipeline and plans;
- Managing off-site and international collections, relevant accreditation programs, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation to support safe work practices and animal welfare;
In this diverse role, you will also have the opportunity to contribute towards our missions and charitable purpose, while supporting the development of Strategic Projects and managing exciting new upgrades, exhibits, and projects as we continue to innovate and evolve.
You will be working closely with our dedicated team and will be required to oversee various husbandry duties with reptiles, birds, and mammals, including managing diets, husbandry standards, capture and restraint techniques, maintenance of accurate animal records, and liaising with our veterinary team for animal health management.
To be successful in this role, you will have extensive background in animal population management and experience at management level within the commercial zoo industry, ideally with some international reach. You will also possess excellent people management skills, including developing the potential of a talented and passionate team, coaching, and mentoring.
