Registered Midwife Birthing Services Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Midwife to join our team at Mercy Hospitals Victoria Ltd. As a key member of our Birthing Services team, you will provide high-quality midwifery care to women and their families, supporting them in their birth choices.
About the Role:
- You will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive midwifery care, including supporting women in their birth choices and managing high-risk pregnancies and births.
- You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, with a focus on upskilling and professional development.
- You will be required to provide evidence of, or be in the process of obtaining, a current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check, as well as current COVID-19 certification and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality midwifery care to women and their families, supporting them in their birth choices.
- Work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive midwifery care.
- Manage high-risk pregnancies and births, and provide training on insertion of intravenous catheters, suturing, and balloon catheters for induction of labour.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
- Provide education and support to women and their families, and contribute to the development of educational programs.
Requirements:
- Current registration as a Registered Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Level 2 or above RANZCOG practitioner status.
- Competent to perform IV cannulation, balloon catheter insertion for induction of labour, perineal suturing and waterbirth (or willing to learn these skills).
- Knowledge of managing high-risk, complicated pregnancies and birth, and the ability to facilitate physiological birth where possible.
