Department Lead

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Department Champion to join our team at Bernardi Group. As a Department Champion, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of your assigned department, ensuring that all tasks and routines are completed to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities- Visual Presentation and Store Standards: Maintain high standards of visual presentation and store standards to maximize sales.
- Promotions and Marketing Execution: Ensure the execution of promotions and marketing plans to drive sales and customer engagement.
- Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels, including stocktaking and ordering, to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize waste.
- Customer Service: Provide outstanding customer service standards, ensuring that customers have a positive experience in our store.
- Quality and Safety: Maintain quality and safety standards, including receiving, inspecting, and storing products, and rotating stock to ensure freshness.
- Profit and Loss Management: Assist in managing profit and loss, including sales, gross profit, and shrinkage budgets and targets.
- Personnel Cost Management: Assist in managing personnel costs, including rostering and scheduling.
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead and develop your team, providing ongoing support, training, and development to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to succeed.
- Safety and Compliance: Assist in managing safety and compliance, including participating in department audits and ensuring accuracy of purchase orders and invoices.
- Well-presented and professional: Possess excellent communication skills and an extroverted personality.
- Customer-focused: Demonstrate a customer-centric approach and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
- Understanding of supermarket best practice: Have a solid understanding of supermarket operations and best practices.
- Team player: Be able to work effectively in a team environment and demonstrate a willingness to support colleagues.
- Retail management certificates or experience: Possess relevant retail management certifications or experience.
- Exposure to retail grocery department: Have exposure to retail grocery departments and a solid understanding of supermarket operations.
- Knowledge of purchasing, ranging, and merchandising: Possess knowledge of purchasing, ranging, and merchandising to drive sales and customer engagement.
- Knowledge of wages, gross profit, and waste control: Have knowledge of wages, gross profit, and waste control to ensure optimal store performance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: Possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Leadership and coaching skills: Demonstrate the ability to lead and coach team members to achieve their full potential.
- Organizational and time management skills: Possess strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Intermediate computer skills: Have intermediate computer skills to effectively use store systems and software.
