
Animal Care Professional

The role of Kennel Attendant is a vital position within our organization. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and attention to our working dogs.
Your primary duties will include maintaining the cleanliness of kennels and yards, observing and reporting on the health and behavioural well-being of our canine companions, and providing regular exercise through various activities such as walking.
In addition, you will be responsible for conducting K9 Health Checks, administering oral medications, arranging and attending veterinary appointments, and maintaining accurate records and spreadsheets using Microsoft software.
You will also be required to monitor and report on the facility's general maintenance requirements, ensure the servicing of departmental vehicles, and supervise external contractors at the facility.

RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:
- A current C Class Driver's Licence
- An Australian citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Experience handling and caring for working dogs, preferably in a kennel environment
- Sound knowledge and understanding of canine behaviour and interaction
- Excellent self-driven communication skills that complement a shift-work team with a changing roster
- Ability to work unsupervised, including being self-motivated and content to work alone
- Keenness to learn or possession of basic knowledge of canine scent work
