Job Title: Exterior Steel Framing Specialist

Exterior Steel Framing Specialists are highly skilled tradespeople responsible for installing exterior and interior steel studs, door, window, and other hardware. They work with minimal supervision, handling heavy loads and working at heights.

Duties:

  • Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine work requirements.
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
  • Instruct apprentices and supervise other workers.
  • Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments.
  • Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress.
  • Install exterior and interior steel studs, door, window, and other hardware.
  • Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings.
  • Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools.
  • Install acoustic tile, hangers for suspended ceilings, and metal studs for composition wallboard or lath.

Requirements:

  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in the field.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Reliability, team player, and efficiency.
