Job Opportunity:

This role offers a unique chance to provide specialist mental health interventions to young people and their families. You will be part of an interdisciplinary team embedded within headspace Chatswood and Brookvale, working collaboratively with these services to assess, intervene, and develop care plans with young people, their parents or caregivers, and other support systems as needed.

The service focuses on young people aged 12-24 presenting with emerging or first episode psychosis; and adolescents aged 12-17 with moderate to severe mental health concerns requiring enhanced specialist intervention.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments, formulate treatment plans, and deliver evidence-based individual and family interventions such as CBT, DBT, attachment-based therapies, and family therapy for serious mental health issues in young people or early intervention for first episode psychosis for young people aged 12-24.
  • Apply systemic intervention principles in collaboration with broader stakeholders for ongoing care.
  • Provide clinical consultancy, effective communication, partnership development, and negotiation with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with external partnerships/stakeholders with excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and current AHPRA registration (or eligibility for membership of AASW for Social Workers). Social Work/Occupational Therapy requires experience as a level 2 clinician. Clinical Nurse Consultant will have at least 5 years full-time equivalent post-registration experience, approved postgraduate qualifications, or substantial relevant clinical experience within this setting. Clinical Psychologist will have a postgraduate master's or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from an APAC accredited University.
  • Extensive knowledge, skills, and experience in providing assessment, formulation, and evidence-based individual and family interventions such as CBT, DBT, attachment-based therapies, and family therapy in the treatment of serious mental health problems in young people and/or early intervention for first episode psychosis for young people aged 12-24.
