The role is responsible for designing and maintaining preventative medicine programs, leading an experienced Wildlife Health team, and responding to day-to-day clinical care of sick or injured zoo population animals, as well as native wildlife admitted to the wildlife hospital.

This position requires a tertiary qualification in Veterinary Medicine, eligibility for full registration with the Veterinary Surgeon's Board of NSW, and experience in the treatment and rehabilitation of wildlife, veterinary management of free-ranging wildlife, and veterinary research.

A competitive annual package of $149,655 awaits the successful candidate, comprising a base salary of $134,411 plus superannuation and leave loading.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting conservation projects, develop your leadership skills, and contribute to the development of Taronga's vision, strategies, policies, standards, and practices for its Veterinary program.

To be successful in this position, you must have demonstrated knowledge and skill in all aspects of veterinary management of zoo and wild animals, effective preventative medicine programs, and species management in open-range zoo settings.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with zoological and wildlife medicine, including breeding, nutrition, biosecurity, animal housing, and enclosure design.

The role also requires strong leadership skills, including people management, stakeholder relationships, project coordination, and problem-solving.

Additionally, you will need to hold current certifications such as TCSA Salaried Award, Clerk Grade 11, and Working with Children Check.
