About Apprenticeship Support Australia (ASA)


Apprenticeship Support Australia (ASA) is a business unit of CCIWA formed in 1998 to deliver Australian Apprenticeship Support Network services under a contract from the Commonwealth Government. ASA's services are focused on lifting apprenticeship commencement and completion rates through the provision of support at every stage of the training cycle.



Salary


We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $100,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus excellent benefits and a supportive work environment.



Job Description


The Mentor Support Officer will play a pivotal role in providing vital mentoring and support services to ASA clients. As a key member of the team, you will facilitate apprenticeship completions by addressing industry, workplace, and personal issues. Your primary objective will be to ensure early identification and mitigation of challenges that may arise during the training process.



Key Responsibilities



  • Conducting risk assessments with clients to identify any potential barriers to completion.
  • Delivering in-person, phone, and online mentoring support to clients, offering ongoing support and assistance throughout their training contract.
  • Undertaking contact visits with Key Client Group (KCG) clients to identify complex issues early.
  • Developing and maintaining Tailored Support Plans (TSPs).
  • Ensuring accurate and timely maintenance of databases and TSPs, adhering to compliance requirements.
  • Delivering information sessions at school and community events to support and promote the value of apprenticeships, traineeships, and the benefits of mentoring support.
  • Hosting networking events to create engagement for First Nations and/or Women in Male Dominated Trades apprentices.
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders in job search and employment services for job seekers.


Required Skills and Qualifications


To be successful in this role, you will need:



  • Knowledge and awareness of issues and potential barriers to completion of Apprenticeships.
  • A minimum of 12 months relevant experience working with young people or proven relevant experience.
  • Understanding of the issues faced by women in trades and/or male-dominated work environments.
  • Ability to provide Apprentices with sound guidance in drawing from life experience, workplace knowledge, values, and academic achievement.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication skills – oral and written.
  • Ability to promote Australian Apprenticeships to prospective clients and represent ASA at events.
  • Understanding/knowledge of apprenticeships and traineeships.
  • Ability to work to and deliver on KPIs.
  • National Police Clearance, Driver’s Licence & Working with Children Check (essential).
