Candidate Profile

We are in search of a distinguished agricultural commodity strategist who possesses a strong enthusiasm for fundamental research and data analysis.

With a proven track record of generating and executing strategic market insights, you should have expertise in one or more sectors of the global agricultural commodity markets, including grains, oilseeds, soft commodities, and/or livestock.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a physical trading environment, sell-side institution, or hedge fund, functioning as a fundamentally focused strategist, forecasting comprehensive global supply and demand scenarios, and offering strategic advice on investment choices.

The Agricultural Commodity Strategist will oversee a team of analysts and collaborate closely with Portfolio Managers to develop, research, and implement investment strategies. Exceptional strategists may have the opportunity to progress to senior leadership positions within the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and enhance the fundamental research initiatives at Farrer Capital Management
  • Direct the creation of comprehensive fundamental commodity supply and demand models
  • Guide the advancement of analytical tools and processes while remaining informed on market research and insights
  • Supervise the modeling of commodity data for specific markets and conduct ad hoc analyses based on immediate market developments
  • Ensure the highest standards of data quality and continuously assess and enhance data integrity
Qualifications
About You
  • Previous experience in commodities producing innovative research that supports investment decisions
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in statistics, mathematics, computer science, finance, or economics
  • High academic achievement (GPA >3.8) / 1st Class Honors degree
  • Strong proficiency in financial modeling, particularly using Python and/or VBA, Matlab
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative abilities, with meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities and excel in a dynamic team environment
  • A desire to work in a setting that values excellence
