About the Role

KPMG Australia's Enterprise Advisory Risk & Compliance team is seeking a seasoned Chief Risk Governance Specialist to join our Hobart office. This dynamic opportunity involves working closely with Boards and Executive Management to navigate business risks and achieve strategic goals.

As a key member of our team, you will work with clients across various sectors, including Government, Local Government, and not-for-profit organisations, to identify and manage operational risks. Your expertise in internal audit and risk consulting will be essential in delivering high-quality outcomes for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will lead and manage a portfolio of internal audit engagements, delivering exceptional results and insights that enhance business processes and control environments.
  • Conduct comprehensive internal audits to assess the effectiveness of controls and risk management frameworks, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop internal audit plans in collaboration with clients, aligning with their strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Deliver risk advisory projects, including compliance, regulatory audits, performance audits, and governance reviews.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, aiding in business development and maintaining professional networks.
  • Mentor and lead team members, helping them to develop their careers.

Your Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant post-graduate professional qualifications such as CA, CPA, or CIA are highly regarded.
  • Proven experience in coaching and mentoring team members and junior staff.
  • Experience in internal audit and risk consulting, preferably in a professional services firm, government, or industry.
  • A track record of leading high-performing teams and managing multiple concurrent projects.
