Tax and Payroll Manager

As a seasoned professional in this field, you will be instrumental in overseeing the daily operations of our tax and payroll team. Your responsibilities will include leading end-to-end tax return preparation, lodging, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

About the Role

We seek an experienced leader who possesses a strong background in Australian tax compliance and payroll processing. Key requirements include:

  • Managing tax and payroll teams to ensure seamless operations and adherence to regulatory standards
  • Developing and implementing effective tax strategies that meet client needs
  • Coordinating payrolls for diverse clients, ensuring accurate and timely payments
  • Providing expert advice on complex tax matters to team members and clients
  • Cultivating strategic partnerships with key stakeholders to enhance service delivery

Responsibilities

Your key areas of focus will include:

  1. Overseeing tax and payroll operations to maintain high levels of accuracy and efficiency
  2. Collaborating with senior executives to drive business growth and improve client satisfaction
  3. Mentoring and guiding team members to develop their skills and expertise
  4. Identifying opportunities to optimize workflow processes and enhance productivity

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • At least 7 years' experience in a senior tax and payroll role within an accounting practice or similar environment
  • Strong knowledge of Australian tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Extensive experience in payroll processing and management, including Single Touch Payroll (STP) and PAYG
  • Proven leadership and people management skills, with ability to motivate and guide team members
  • Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping or equivalent qualification is required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, or a related field is highly desirable (or working toward)
  • Proficiency with cloud-based accounting and payroll platforms (e.g., Xero, MYOB, Reckon)
