About the Role

We're seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to contribute to our open pit mining operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct geotechnical assessments of high walls and core logging of drilling programs
  • Evaluate risks, assess geotechnical designs, and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Monitor pit slope stability and ensure safe mining practices
  • Design and implement de-pressurisation drilling programs as required
  • Blast designs must align with geotechnical domains and recommendations
  • Analyze geotechnical occurrences to deliver actionable insights
  • Provide input into mine design and scheduling to optimise outcomes
  • Develop and maintain slope monitoring programs and conduct regular inspections
  • Deliver training on ground awareness to site personnel
  • Collaborate with other teams to drive results
  • Prioritise business improvement opportunities
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance and accuracy
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification in Mining, Geoscience or related discipline with a focus on Geomechanics
  • At least 3 years' experience in geotechnical roles within an open pit mining environment
  • Experience in Operations, Technical Services or Project Management is essential
  • Familiarity with safety systems, geotechnical design and controls for Open Pit operations
  • Proficiency in Rocscience Geotechnical software is expected
  • Leapfrog and Deswik experience is desirable
  • Able to adapt to changing procedures and practices
  • Awareness of relevant Mine Safety Regulations is necessary
