Financial Accountant Job Description

This role offers a chance to work in a head office environment with a supportive finance team and contribute to both business-as-usual finance and post-acquisition integration activity.

The successful candidate will have strong experience in month-end reporting and audit preparation, as well as exposure to consolidation and integration processes. They will be comfortable working in a structured head office environment with overseas leadership and able to navigate procedures while taking ownership at a local level.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly financial and management reports, including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow.
  • Prepare and lodge timely statutory returns (BAS, PAYG, FBT, etc).
  • Deliver quarterly board reports.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes.
  • Assist with year-end statutory accounts and external audit coordination.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger entries and reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and internal policies.
  • Manage and maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
  • Assist with accounts payable functions, including processing and reconciliations.
  • Handle stock control and reconciliations.
  • Monitor and improve internal controls; participate in process reviews.
  • Liaise with global head office to ensure group alignment.
What We're Looking For:
  • Strong experience in month-end reporting and audit preparation (particularly external audits).
  • Exposure to consolidation and integration processes is a plus - the business has recently acquired another company.
  • Comfortable working in a structured head office environment, with overseas leadership.
  • Able to navigate procedures while taking ownership at a local level.
What You'll Bring:
  • Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA or CA qualification (or currently completing).
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a Financial Accountant or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory reporting and compliance.
  • Proficient in Excel and accounting systems.
  • High attention to detail and analytical thinking.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute - even if you don't tick every box, training will be provided for the right person.
