Job Opportunity

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a Youth Development Officer - Leadership and Participation.

This is a fixed term, full time position that offers the opportunity to work at various locations across the municipality. The successful candidate will contribute to building resilience in young people by developing, implementing, and evaluating programs and activities that encourage and increase their participation in the community.

The role requires initiative, creativity, strong planning and program management skills, combined with consultation with young people to ensure contemporary service responses to meet current and evolving needs.

Youth Development Officers create opportunities for young people to participate, feel welcome, and be heard. The position may evolve over time, so the incumbent will need to be adaptable to the needs of young people and our organisation.

About the Role

  • Work with young people using a strength-based, youth empowerment approach.
  • Design, plan, promote, manage, and review programs and initiatives that are accessible and inclusive of all young people.
  • Communicate and engage young people and their stakeholders through relevant marketing and promotion channels.
  • Actively support and participate in the broader youth services team.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Youth Work or similar.
  • Qualification/training in Alcohol & Other Drugs (preferred).
  • Current Victorian drivers licence.
  • Basic mandatory requirements for working in this field including a current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
  • Demonstrate skills in designing, and co-designing, youth leadership programs, consultation and participation, meaningful recognition and celebration.
  • Demonstrated experience working with LGBTIQA+ communities.
