Job Title

A Staff Specialist role in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.


About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Specialist to join our team in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to patients with gastrointestinal and liver disorders.


Key Responsibilities
  • To provide comprehensive gastroenterological services, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with gastrointestinal and liver disorders.
  • To participate in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.
  • To contribute to teaching and supervision of junior medical staff in line with contemporary best practice.
  • To engage in research concepts as required within the Department.

Selection Criteria
  1. Possess or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  2. Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1997 and the Staff Specialists (NSW) Award; evidence of Continuing Medical Education and self-monitoring/audit practices relevant to the role.
  3. Sound clinical knowledge in gastroenterology with contemporary endoscopy skills; demonstrated through clinical practice and participation in quality assurance activities.
  4. High level interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision of junior medical staff.
  6. Demonstrates professional behavior and acts as a role model for junior medical staff.
  7. Sound clinical knowledge with a subspecialty in IBD or other subspecialty interest as evidenced by qualifications or post-Fellowship experience.
  8. Familiarity with research concepts and a commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research as required within the Department.
