About the Position

As a Drainage and Water Operator, you will play a key role in supporting the Urban Drains, Water & Wastewater maintenance team. You will be responsible for supervising minor works and ensuring the efficient and effective completion of operations and maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out operational and maintenance tasks on Council's water and wastewater infrastructure as directed.
  • Ccorrectly interpret and construct from technical standards, specifications, plans, and diagrams.
  • Undertake detailed condition assessments of urban drains, water and wastewater infrastructure including pressure mains, gravity mains, services, manholes & pits, hydrants, valves, meters and the like.
  • Undertake traffic management, including selecting and implementing traffic control plans.
  • Plan works ahead, understand and work towards team goals and communicate plans and goals for better understanding within the team.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
  • Experience and understanding of the operation and maintenance of urban drains, water & wastewater infrastructure.
  • Ability to work an on-call roster outside of normal working hours.
