Job Title: Construction Superintendent

Clough is seeking a highly skilled Construction Superintendent to join our team on the Project Ceres urea plant in Karratha, Western Australia.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring site construction activities proceed within schedule and budget, and in accordance with the specifications. This will involve coordinating and implementing area construction schedules, personnel charts, and material and equipment requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and coordinate area construction schedules, personnel charts, and material and equipment requirements.
  • Control expenditures in assigned area for labor, equipment, material, and services, and ensure field operations are within budget.
  • Supervise personnel in assigned area of responsibility and coordinate activities with other disciplines or areas.
  • Monitor progress and timely installation of modules, interconnecting components, and stick-built commodities within the work area.
  • Provide leadership for safety, accident prevention, and fire prevention programs on the project.
  • Coordinate with General Superintendent and interface managers, and monitor and take an active role in current and look-ahead schedules.
  • Perform work in a brownfield area, liaise with operations to perform this work, and communicate with operations on interface work activities.
  • Responsible for conducting area-wide schedule, interface, and performance meetings with all associated disciplines superintendents to establish and maintain a coordinated plan and efficient performance of the work in the area.
  • Set area priorities and resolve conflicts between disciplines, and resolve problems and coordinate with engineering, procurement, and others to ensure appropriate solutions are determined and implemented in a timely manner.
  • Monitor activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules, and implement corporate/project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned operations.
  • Coordinate activities with other disciplines or areas and clients' resident representatives, as instructed by construction management, and perform employee reviews and identifies training and development opportunities for subordinate personnel.
  • Ensure that Clough and local/national safety codes, requirements, and standards are being complied with within assigned area of responsibility, and ensure the Zero Accident Philosophy is incorporated into every aspect of construction operation.
  • Demonstrate leadership in a team-based environment, ensure the most current design documents are used to complete the work, and ensure all milestone dates are completed as scheduled.
  • Ensure all construction activities meet quality and workmanship standards, and ensure required permits are in place prior to the start of the work at site.
  • Monitor quantity reporting, and perform general housekeeping of the work area, pre-start and end-of-shift meetings, and performance management.
About You

We are looking for a candidate with previous experience in marine, structures, dredging, civil, construction, earthworks, services, or piling, and strong supervision experience, including the ability to lead and manage change. You should have effective communication skills, crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner.

You should have previous direct hire experience, strong technical knowledge of civil construction, and strong experience of liaising with and coordinating contractors and vendors. You should also have knowledge of multi-discipline construction or engineering operation, and knowledge of the project's HSE handbook, the supervisor's HSE manual, the project safety management plan, and Clough's Target zero process.
