Job Summary

This role involves the application of advanced technical theories and methodologies to provide innovative solutions for complex engineering projects.

As a Principal Mechanical Systems Specialist, you will liaise with stakeholders, conduct systems analysis, and review and support the approval of Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).

You will ensure that mechanical design artefacts are compatible with the baselined product and perform technical risk analysis to support development and review of hazard logs, safety case arguments, and risk mitigation actions.

The successful candidate will have experience in an engineering discipline including Requirements Definition, Management, Analysis, Design, and Verification and Validation, as well as a tertiary qualification in mechanical, mechatronics, or structural engineering.

Eligibility to obtain and maintain an NV1 Defence Security Clearance is required.

About the Role

This position involves direct engagement with peers, Australian Defence Force personnel, capability partners, sub-contractors, and suppliers within a friendly team to meet the needs of our customer—the Royal Australian Navy (RAN).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct systems analysis to derive function, performance, and interface requirements to meet electrical safety parameters.
  • Ensure assigned mechanical components are developed and implemented according to appropriate standards and procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to secure a trusted partner reputation in delivering systems integration and mission support solutions.
Requirements
  • Tertiary Qualification in mechanical, mechatronics, or structural engineering.
  • Experience in an engineering discipline including Requirements Definition, Management, Analysis, Design, and Verification and Validation.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain an NV1 Defence Security Clearance.
