Grounds Maintenance Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated Grounds Maintenance Assistant to join our maintenance team at Brighton Grammar School. As an essential member of our team, you will play a key role in supporting the upkeep of our school's grounds and facilities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to establishing a career in grounds maintenance or sports turf management, as well as a basic understanding of maintaining gardens and lawns. They will also be enrolled in a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management or commit to doing so.

We require someone with experience maintaining a cricket wicket, as well as the ability to handle a range of horticultural machinery and powered hand tools. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment are essential.

A current Working with Children Check clearance is required for this position. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their commitment to developing their skills with the guidance of our experienced Head Groundsman.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintain school lawns, ovals, nature strips, church grounds, and related infrastructure
  • Support the Head Groundsman in maintaining equipment and stock levels
  • Ensure all grass areas are free from harmful insects, weeds, and diseases
