About the Role

Ralphs Meat Company is seeking an Animal Welfare Officer to join their team in Seymour VIC.

Job Description:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting livestock between yards and processing facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport livestock between yards and processing facilities, ensuring minimal stress on the animals.

  • Monitor animal health and wellbeing during transportation and processing, taking prompt action if any issues arise.

  • Implement and enforce animal welfare protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations.

  • Maintain accurate records of livestock movements and incidents, providing valuable insights for improvement.

  • Identify and report any animal welfare concerns or issues, working closely with colleagues to resolve them.

  • Assist with loading and unloading livestock as required, ensuring efficient and safe operations.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a livestock drover or similar animal handling role, demonstrating a strong understanding of animal behavior and welfare.

  • A thorough knowledge of animal welfare regulations and best practices, ensuring compliance and minimizing risk.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, allowing for quick and informed decisions in high-pressure situations.

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team, adapting to changing circumstances and priorities.

  • A valid driver's license, enabling safe transportation of livestock.
