About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our project team on a temporary basis to deliver Land Transport and Safety Regulation (LTSR) compliance projects. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for sourcing, integrating, and making data available for use by business intelligence analysts, data scientists, and other data users.
This role requires significant experience in cloud-based technologies, enabling the design, build, and delivery of an enterprise-wide data consumption model. You will work closely with a team of business and data analysts, system, and policy subject matter experts to enhance and optimize existing anomaly detection data models, leveraging Machine Learning to meet future business requirements.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing data solutions that ingest, integrate, and make data available in cloud-based technologies.
- Analyzing existing on-premise data assets, including their transformation and use.
- Designing, building, and delivering data marts for enterprise-wide use, providing strong quality and security controls.
- Documenting and training team members in data engineering techniques used.
- Migrating cloud platforms from existing on-premise data warehouses to AWS, establishing effective ingestion patterns, applying security controls, and ensuring solutions facilitate the development of data marts, artificial intelligence, and machine learning solutions.
- Repointing migrated solutions to existing Tableau and PowerBI solutions.
- Sourcing data from databases and warehouses for ingestion into AWS.
- Developing and delivering test scripts and government data security controls to ensure data integrity and quality.
- Optimizing business-critical requirements and curating data models that meet business needs and deliver organizational change.
- Extracting and combining data from various heterogeneous data sources to enhance and optimize data consumption models.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Previous experience as a Data Engineer in large complex organizations.
- Experience in cloud-based technologies that enable the design, build, and delivery of an enterprise-wide data consumption model.
- Ability to plan and document the data engineering approach and activities.
- Highly experienced with Tableau and PowerBI.
- Previous experience optimizing data pipelines and automated data marts that are scalable enterprise-wide in Redshift, Glue, Snowflake, and Matillion.
- Migrated existing data assets to AWS S3 Data Lake, Matillion, and Snowflake.
- Engaged and consulted with business stakeholders for clarification of business requirements, functional, and technical requirements, business change impacts.
This opportunity offers you an initial 2-month contract with potential to extend at an hourly rate of $90-$115 per hour+ Superannuation (negotiable based on experience).
The client offers flexible working conditions, split between work from home and office in the Brisbane CBD.
