Job Title: Workplace Safety Specialist
Job SummaryThe NSW Department of Customer Service is seeking a Workplace Safety Specialist to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting inspections and investigations to improve workplace safety outcomes, delivering education and engagement programs for workers and employers, responding to serious workplace incidents, providing practical advice and guidance to industry and stakeholders, and participating in the planning and development of targeted projects.

- Excellent communication skills to engage and influence key stakeholders to improve safety outcomes
- Demonstrated resilience and ability to work independently
- Ability to manage competing priorities
- Ability to prepare accountable records including technical reports, statutory notices and contribute to the development and review of technical and operational policies, procedures, and documents
- Identify non-compliance with legislation and recommend appropriate strategies to enable PCBU's to achieve compliance
- Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders on issues relating to work health & safety
- Provide excellent customer service at all times
To be successful you will need to apply your experience in WHS, compliance and enforcement to deliver improved safety outcomes, build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders to achieve sustainable change, communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, to a diverse audience including industry, unions and government stakeholders, demonstrate resilience and professionalism when responding to complex, high-pressure situations, and contribute to organisational objectives by supporting colleagues and leading by example.
You will also receive an attractive salary package along with the required tools of the trade, including a vehicle with access to private use, have flexible working conditions within operational requirements, and participate in the After-Hours Emergency Response Service.
About the TeamThe Construction directorate has a strategic approach to supporting a safe, healthy and productive construction industry in NSW. They provide a strong and consistent focus on building industry capability through strategic stakeholder engagement, evidence and risk-based harm prevention initiatives, and proportionate and targeted regulator response to construction incidents and requests for service.
