Key Responsibilities

  • Safety and Environmental Compliance
    • Ensure all projects comply with relevant safety and environmental regulations, standards, and client requirements.
    • Conduct regular audits and inspections to monitor compliance and identify areas for improvement.
    • Develop and implement risk assessments and management plans for safety and environmental aspects of projects.
    • Identify potential hazards, implement and monitor control measures to mitigate risks, and review specific high-risk planned works to ensure compliance with the method of work.
    • Provide health and safety specialist advice and technical input to project delivery, ensuring legal and contractual obligations, as well as risks, are identified and communicated appropriately.
    • Conduct routine safety inspections and monitor work areas, offices, and on-site work locations.
    • Review subcontractor Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), Job Safety and Environmental Analyses (JSEAs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Management Plans, and Work Packs.
  • Training and Awareness
    • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance safety and environmental awareness among employees and subcontractors.
    • Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organisation.
    • Coordinate and conduct investigations into workplace incidents and maintain incident records.
    • Develop and implement emergency response plans.
  • Reporting and Documentation
    • Prepare and present regular reports on safety and environmental performance to senior management and clients.
    • Maintain accurate records of safety and environmental activities, audits, and incidents.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Foster positive relationships with all stakeholders to promote collaboration and continuous improvement.
    • Maintain professional relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and clients.

Requirements

  • A Diploma or Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (WHS) is required.
  • 5-10 years of experience in services, construction, engineering, or a related field.
  • A background in consultancy or the public sector is preferred.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license.
  • Qualification in systems or lead auditing is essential.
  • Training in ICAM investigation techniques is required.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is an advantage.
  • First Aid certification is preferred.
  • General industry induction (white card) is required.
  • Medium to advanced proficiency in computer skills, including internet use, MS Office applications, and HSE software.
  • Strong skills in verbal and written communication, reporting, presentations, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant safety and environmental legislation, as well as ISO standards (45001, 9001, and others).
  • Ability to influence and engage stakeholders across all levels of an organisation.
  • Demonstrated expertise and knowledge in the Water, Environment, and/or Energy sectors.
  • Significant experience in managing multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality outcomes under time pressure.
