About the Role

We are seeking a collaborative and dynamic leader to build on and execute our communications and engagement strategy. As the Director, Strategic Engagement, you will play a key role in advancing our impact and position as a trusted national authority and commentator on issues informed by applied science, technology and engineering. You will also lead our growing international advocacy, positioning ATSE and Australia as a trusted adviser and lead commentator on some of the world's most complex challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communications and engagement strategy to advance our impact and position as a trusted national authority and commentator on issues informed by applied science, technology and engineering.
  • Lead our growing international advocacy, positioning ATSE and Australia as a trusted adviser and lead commentator on some of the world's most complex challenges.
  • Work closely with our Fellows, key stakeholders, media and all ATSE staff to develop and implement effective communications and engagement strategies.
  • Provide strategic counsel on communication and engagement issues to the CEO and President.
  • Lead a talented and committed team of communications and events specialists, providing guidance to nurture positive relationships with our Fellows, and proactively identify and shape advocacy opportunities delivering compelling and strong news and social media campaigns.
Requirements
  • 10+ years experience leading successful strategic communication campaigns at a national level that demonstrate impact, skill, creativity and a deep understanding of media relations and issues management.
  • Superior influencing and communication skills to enable fruitful professional relationships both internally and externally.
  • Exceptional writing skills and a knack for influential story-telling.
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets to achieve events that are financially sustainable.
