About the Role

The Law Society of NSW is seeking a highly skilled External Intervention Solicitor to join our team. As a key member of our Legal Regulation Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of the legal profession.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise Trust Money: Act as a supervisor of trust money of the trust accounts of law practices to improve compliance and educate the legal profession.
  • Conduct External Interventions: Conduct other external interventions into law practices on behalf of the Council of the Law Society of New South Wales.
  • Prepare Reports: Prepare and submit reports on external interventions under the Uniform Law.
  • Provide Education: Provide education to the legal profession and external stakeholders about relevant provisions of the Uniform Law.
Requirements
  • Admission to the Bar: Admitted as a Legal Practitioner in NSW and currently holds an Unrestricted Principal's Practising Certificate.
  • Relevant Experience: Relevant practical experience in private legal practice.
  • People and Business Management Skills: Demonstrated highly developed people and business management skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to resolve conflicts.
  • Organisation and Prioritisation Skills: Strong organisation and prioritisation skills and the ability to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Computer Literacy: Computer literate – including specialist Trust Accounting software.
  • Availability: Available and able to work non-standard hours.
  • Technical Knowledge: Sound working knowledge of Solicitor's trust account requirements; and trust and office account record keeping.
  • Experience in Law: Experience in, and sound technical knowledge of, the law and practice in at least two (2) of the following areas of legal practice: Conveyancing, Criminal Law, Family Law, Litigation, Personal Injury Law, Wills and Estates.
