The Inland Rail Program is a major rail infrastructure project spanning 1600km from Brisbane to Melbourne. The program involves upgrading existing standard gauge track, enhancing it for double stacking, and constructing new links with viaducts, tunnels, crossings, and bridges.
About the Opportunity
This key financial role links Inland Rail's Finance, Project Controls, and Delivery teams. As our Project Accountant, you will ensure accurate project transactions, deliver high-quality financial reports, and provide insights to support decision-making. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the end-to-end monthly reporting cycle, including accruals, transfer journals, scope changes, forecasts, and budget updates.
- Closing Actual Cost of Work Performed (ACWP) and forecasts in line with Inland Rail reporting schedules.
- Highlighting key movements and ensuring forecasts align with project delivery schedules.
- Providing accounting and transactional support to project and functional managers, ensuring alignment with budgets and governance.
- Maintaining compliance with Australian accounting standards and supporting audit processes.

Requirements- Tertiary qualifications in accounting or business, membership of relevant institutes, or proven relevant experience.
- Experience in management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost functions within a commercial organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to foster relationships.
- A collaborative mindset with attention to detail.
- Extensive knowledge of spreadsheets and automated accounting systems.
