Senior Audit Manager

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Senior Internal Audit Manager to join our client, a leading Big 4 bank, based in Melbourne's CBD.
The Role
In this position, you will be crucial in developing the independent third line of defense within their three lines of defense (3LOD) governance framework. The IA function consists of various teams working together to offer independent oversight, ensuring our client operates swiftly and securely across the organisation. Technology, data, and automation are vital in fostering innovation and enhancing overall business operations. Within IA, the Technology and Data & Automation (TDA) team focuses on assessing the effectiveness of risk management related to these critical areas.
Responsibilities will include:
- Plan, lead, and execute audit engagements in accordance with the annual Audit Plan and established audit methodology.
- Review specific business functions, particularly focusing on technology, data, and automation-related processes.
- Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of controls in place to manage and mitigate risks.
- Provide reliable assurance by delivering high-quality audit reports backed by sufficient audit evidence.
- Demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement skills, including experience interacting with senior technology management.
- Collaborate with management to develop sustainable solutions that enhance the control environment, manage risk exposures effectively, align with the organisation's strategic goals, and protect the interests of its customers and stakeholders.
Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of key risk management frameworks, including operational risk, compliance, and delivery risk. They should have a strong track record of leading complex technology audit engagements or risk teams on high-profile reviews. Experience in auditing complex technology environments, particularly within banking and finance, is crucial.
Additionally, the candidate should have experience in conducting risk and control analyses of complex business areas and processes through using data to design and deliver effective assurance, and possess excellent stakeholder management skills to ensure you build effective working relationships. Experience in auditing cloud-based environments or other emerging technology systems is highly desirable, along with relevant certifications.
Requirements

- Strong technical skills, including experience with auditing technology and data-related processes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A deep understanding of risk management frameworks and their application in a banking and finance environment.
- Experience in leading complex audit engagements and risk teams.
- Relevant certifications, such as CA or CISA.
