About the Role

The Construction Manager will oversee and deliver effective construction management services for Transgrid's assets and external business opportunities, in full compliance with Transgrid policies and procedures and relevant safety and environmental legislation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a group of site managers and senior site managers as well as directly managing sites themselves to ensure maintenance projects are delivered safely, efficiently, meeting quality expectations and ensuring required timeframes are met.
  • Oversee and deliver effective construction management services for Transgrid's assets and external business opportunities.
  • Optimize resource use, project estimation, delivery of site works and performance monitoring.
  • Manage all construction activities related to maintenance projects.
Requirements
  • Possession of an appropriate qualification: Electrical trade certificate; OR Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Project Management or equivalent; OR Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil), Project Management or equivalent.
  • Extensive site management experience involving the delivery of HV transmission electricity infrastructure including working with all types of trades and workers electrical supply authorities and delivery partners.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of project management, construction, testing and commissioning of transmission assets.
  • In-depth knowledge of electricity industry and participant expectations.
  • Knowledge in the application of WHS, preferably Cert IV in WHS and environmental legislation relative to duties of the position.
  • Competent in the application of risk management methodologies.
  • Sound interpersonal skills that will facilitate the establishment of working relationships with stakeholders and peers.
  • The ability to lead and manage a diverse workforce located over multiple sites and demonstrated experience in mentoring and supporting junior site managers.
  • Resource and people management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A current Driver's Licence.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement organisational change.
