Search Architect

We're seeking a seasoned Search Architect to join our team and drive the development of cutting-edge search solutions.

  • You will be responsible for creating high-performance search systems that meet the evolving needs of our customers.
  • Achieving this goal requires close collaboration with our engineering teams, product leadership, and stakeholders across multiple functional roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Implement Advanced Search Systems: Utilize your expertise in information retrieval fundamentals, query optimization, and relevance tuning to develop efficient search pipelines and indexing mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Teams: Work closely with our engineers to build trust and establish effective communication channels, ensuring seamless execution of projects and successful delivery of search solutions.
  • Define and Communicate Search Technology Strategy: Contribute to the development of our search technology vision, working alongside Technical Leadership to define Dovetail's direction for search and insights extraction.
  • Mentor and Guide Junior Team Members: Share your knowledge and expertise with junior colleagues, empowering them to improve their decision-making skills and master best practices in search architecture.
  • Identify and Prioritize Systemic Technical Challenges: Proactively identify areas for improvement in our search infrastructure and collaborate with product leadership to explore solutions and determine priorities.

Requirements

  • Extensive Experience Building Search Systems: Proficiency in designing and implementing search infrastructure using technologies like Elasticsearch, Solr, or vector databases.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to convey complex ideas and query performance tradeoffs effectively to various stakeholders, including product teams and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience Managing Complex Search Infrastructure: Proven ability to design and deliver large-scale search features, optimize indexing pipelines, and provide accurate performance estimates.
  • Pragmatic and Flexible: Comfortable adapting to shifting customer search needs and able to adjust scope without compromising quality.
