We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Counsel to join our team at VicRoads Registration and Licensing Services (RLS). As a key member of our legal function, you will play a critical role in supporting our business's transformation and modernization.
Reporting directly to the Chief Legal, Risk and Compliance Officer, you will apply your expertise in complex contractual, legislative, and regulatory frameworks to navigate our concession arrangements and provide timely, clear, and pragmatic legal insights to various business functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Forge close relationships with the business to navigate complex contractual, legislative, and regulatory frameworks that shape our concession arrangements.
- Work closely with the business in negotiating and drafting complex IT contracts which underpin the modernisation and transformation of the organisation.
- Provide timely, clear, and pragmatic legal insights to various business functions, with a keen focus on IT and intellectual property laws.
- Collaborate with our Privacy, Risk & Compliance teams to manage privacy concerns and mitigate data security risks effectively.
Requirements:
- Hold a current unrestricted Victorian legal practicing certificate and a relevant tertiary qualification in Law.
- 7+ years PQE, with a strong foundation in drafting and negotiating IT contracts, particularly for technology change programs.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills that resonate with stakeholders at all levels.
- A proven history of simplifying complex legal and commercial issues with practical solutions.
- Knowledge of government concessions, franchise arrangements, or public-private partnerships and insights into Victorian transport laws and operations would be a bonus.
