About the Role

You will be involved in upgrading the Operational Management and Control System for three tunnels in Northern NSW and contribute to the development of three new tunnels as part of the Coffs Harbour Bypass project.

This role requires a strategic thinker capable of delivering scalable, secure, and resilient solutions across diverse operational landscapes.

Key Responsibilities

You will provide systems engineering and assurance functions for the branch and broader strategic delivery portfolio. You will maintain a holistic view of business and technology systems and act as a trusted expert who drives consistent systems engineering methodologies and practices across the Transport cluster.

You will adhere to and maintain a rigorous systems engineering governance framework that applies best practices and industry-leading methodologies and supports projects in delivering outcomes that are safe, reliable and fit for their intended purpose.

This hybrid role can be located in Tweed Heads or Ballina with occasional overnight travel.

Our Requirements
  • A four-year engineering degree from an Australian University or equivalent overseas qualifications
  • A valid Australian motor vehicle driver's license and willingness to work outside regular working hours and travel interstate on occasion

We seek an experienced Systems Engineer with a strong background in the design, delivery, maintenance and implementation of tunnel control systems.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with system integration, smart network technologies, ITS, CCTV and Telecommunication Networks and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

An understanding of system architecture is essential, including the ability to assess and implement tunnel systems where appropriate.

The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in analysing system faults, deploying and maintaining complex multi-system environments, specifically SCADA and plant control systems - ensuring seamless interoperability, secure communication, and high system availability.
