**About the Traineeship:**

The aim of this program is to develop trainees with a broad range of technical and employment skills who will be able to undertake various roles across the Water Industry, both in Australia and around the world.

To achieve this goal, we are seeking individuals with a strong interest in both active outdoor work and indoor/laboratory activities.

Key aspects of this position include:

  • Working in a supported team environment with appropriate training and direction.
  • Assisting with the operation and maintenance of water infrastructure assets.
  • Developing skills and knowledge in water quality and environmental quality sampling and testing, compliance and reporting, treatment process adjustments, and construction, maintenance, and repairs of water infrastructure assets.

This role offers a full-time position for a maximum period of up to 24 months, commencing July 2025.

A starting base salary ranging from $32,973 to $62,358 per annum +11.5% super is available, with salary progression based on satisfactory completion of study plus work performance.

Council will cover the associated course costs.

This role includes a paid work placement while learning, 76-hour fortnight, 9-day fortnight, leave entitlements including annual leave, sick leave, and public holiday pay, and training and professional development opportunities.

**Requirements:**

  • A passion for public health and the environment.
  • An interest in both active outdoor work and indoor/laboratory activities.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a small team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer literacy, including knowledge of standard software packages.
  • A positive attitude and self-motivated.
  • A current car driver's licence.
  • A demonstrated commitment to working safely.

**Location:**

This position will be based in various locations across the Tweed Shire, with main work centres at Murwillumbah (Bray Park), Tweed Heads West, Banora Point, and Chinderah.

The trainee will rotate to various locations during the traineeship.
