Environmental Health Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health Specialist to join our team at SpaceX.

  • This role will involve providing technical expertise and assisting in the implementation of environmental, health, and safety programs at our rocket development and test site.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental and occupational safety fields, with excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct detailed safety reviews of complex hazardous operations to ensure safe execution.
  2. Lead or assist in all aspects of incident investigations, including initial follow-up, root cause analysis, and corrective action development and closure.
  3. Develop and maintain compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines established by OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, and other agencies.
  4. Collaborate with leadership to complete job hazard assessments and implement health and safety policies and procedures.
  5. Implement and develop safety and health programs, including OSHA general industry and construction standards, HAZCOM, hazmat, cryogenics, compressed gases, confined space, fall protection, and lock-out/tag-out.
  6. Implement and develop environmental programs, including SPCC & SWPPP, Title V air permitting, and LQG hazardous waste management.
  7. Develop safety solutions to resolve EHS hazards/concerns within cost and schedule constraints.
  8. Monitor employee exposure to physical and chemical hazards.
  9. Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards.
  10. Develop, implement, and maintain safety contingency plans (fires, spills, etc.).
  11. Perform environmental compliance and due diligence audits.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in environmental, health, and safety disciplines.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of process safety management methods, pressure systems, and chemical delivery systems.
  • Experience with emergency response communication and incident management.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience and/or education in construction safety.

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • Must be willing to relocate to Brownsville, TX.
  • Position requires occasional extended hours and weekends.
