Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team at Clarke Energy. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for power generation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Translate and develop concepts into designs to meet the functional and contractual specifications of secured orders, developing and detailing specifications, producing calculations and making component selection.
  • Project Support: Support and assist in the sales stage of a project by taking responsibility for ensuring that conceptual design and tender preparation documents are provided to meet the timescales and quality standards required for presentation to the customer/potential customer.
  • Collaboration: Liaise with Mechanical Design Engineer in identifying the project requirements and on the development of the detailed design.
  • Design Coordination: Liaise with CAD draughtsman, coordinating and leading activity in order to ensure that the design packages are produced to the required timescales and standards of quality.
  • Project Management: Provide support to the Project Manager during the design, installation commissioning and testing phases of the project, ensuring the timely production of all necessary documentation.
  • Customer Liaison: Liaise as necessary with existing and potential customers and their representatives.
  • HAZOP and Risk Assessment: Participate, and where appropriate lead, HAZOP and risk assessment studies.
  • Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality: Ensure that there is full adherence to Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality management policies and procedures in all work undertaken.
  • Design Standards: Ensure design standards and specifications are up to date.
  • Software Requirements: Ensure software requirements of the section are met and achieved.

Support to Electrical Engineers:

  • Design Review: Provide support to the Electrical Engineers in terms of advice, development and approval/sign off for:
  • Design Chill: Design Chill
  • M&E Integration: M&E Integration
  • Design Freeze: Design Freeze
  • Function Design Specifications: Function Design Specifications
  • Single Line Drawings: Single Line Drawings
  • Deputy Leader: Be deputy leader of Electrical Department when Electrical Engineering Manager is absent
  • Administrative Support: Support Electrical Engineering Manager in administrative tasks (approving leave/expenses)
  • Managerial Support: Support electrical manager in managerial activities (personal development and disciplinary)

Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills:

  • IT Skills: Good IT skills- Microsoft Office.
  • Engineering Design Software: Current knowledge of the engineering design software available in the market place.
  • Project Management: Project management.
  • AutoCAD Draughting Package: Knowledge of AutoCAD draughting package
  • ETAP or Other Electrical Power Software Tools: Knowledge of ETAP or other electrical power software tools

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Degree in Electrical Engineering (HNC/HND if supported by substantial relevant experience).
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years' experience of working in an associated industry with a background in power generation (between 1-25MW).
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of low and medium voltage power trains and associated control and instrumentation.
  • IT Skills: Good IT Skills -MS Office.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Professional Registration: Professional registration.
  • CHP Experience: Experience in CHP.
  • Microsoft Project and AutoCAD Draughting Package: Knowledge of Microsoft Project and AutoCAD draughting package or similar.
