Job Summary

The Sofitel Sydney Wentworth is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to lead our payroll function. This is a unique opportunity to join a renowned hotel and contribute to the success of our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end weekly payroll cycle, including processing, reviewing, and submitting for payment.
  • Prepare and verify monthly accruals for salaries, wages, and on-costs.
  • Assist in the month-end closing process, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Calculate termination, redundancy, and other payments.
  • Manage the payroll financial year-end process.
  • Responsible for the monthly and yearly reporting cycle, including Superannuation, Payroll Tax, FBT, and WGEA.
  • Partner with the Human Resources team to manage payroll enquiries and compliance.
  • Project manage the onboarding of a new Food & Beverage department, creating roster templates and reporting tools.
  • Responsible for system administration and performing additional General Ledger duties related to treasury and reconciliations.

Requirements

  • A proven track record of success in a similar role, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of awards, superannuation, taxation, payroll, and employment law.
  • A passion for innovation and driving improvements in the Payroll function.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
