Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Refugee Counsellor to join our team and provide high-quality counselling services to individuals with a refugee or asylum seeker background.

About the Role

  • This is a unique opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients, including children and young people from refugee families, and deliver effective assessment, counselling, and advocacy services.
  • The successful applicant will work collaboratively with our Refugee Team and other external organisations to provide comprehensive support to clients.
  • The focus of this role is the provision of high-quality counselling for complex trauma, mental health, and settlement problems associated with the refugee experience.

Your Responsibilities

  • You will provide assessments, care planning, service coordination, and write case notes and reports.
  • Counsel/therapy for persons who have experienced complex trauma, mental health, and settlement problems associated with the refugee experience.
  • Advocate on behalf of individuals and families with a range of issues related to health, welfare, legal, and government.
  • Support and counsel people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
  • Use technology to complete daily work tasks.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, or a related discipline.
  • 2 Years experience working with members of the Refugee and Asylum Seeker Communities.
  • Documented experience in providing high-quality counselling services.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and sensitivity in providing support and counselling services for people from CALD backgrounds.
