Job Overview

Electronic Surveillance Analysis Section Leader

The Australian Federal Police seeks an exceptional leader to head the Electronic Surveillance Analysis (ESA) section. As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing a diverse and geographically dispersed team, ensuring seamless operational support is delivered in alignment with strategic organisational outcomes.

Mission Statement:

As a leader in our Electronic Surveillance Analysis section, you will contribute to the advancement of our ESA capability by identifying and driving various project works, innovation efforts, and improving customer service. Your expertise in criminal investigation practices & procedures, intelligence processes, Covert Technical Operations capabilities, and wider AFP technical centres and collections will be invaluable in this role.

You will also be accountable for resource management and forecasting, performance management, and team administration, while conducting quality assurance of all ESA services and products to ensure their relevance and currency with AFP requirements.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills to geographically diverse and multidisciplinary teams
  • Maintain a sound understanding of criminal investigation practices & procedures, intelligence processes, Covert Technical Operations capabilities, and wider AFP technical centres and collections
  • Contribute to the enhancement and future direction of the ESA capability
  • Mentor and develop members to enable mastery, teamwork, and purpose in their functions
  • Coordinate and deliver operational support to all AFP commands
  • Offer problem-focused solutions to address specific investigative requirements
  • Lead consultation and liaison with relevant industry and agencies

Requirements

We are seeking an exceptional individual who possesses the following essential qualifications:

  • Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or ability to obtain one
  • Australian citizenship at time of application
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse and geographically dispersed teams
  • Ability to be flexible and dynamic in response to changing priorities
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communications skills
  • Ability to successfully complete annual psychological screening
  • Self-driven with contemporary experience in telecommunications, cyber operations, programming, geospatial analysis, and/or data analytics
