About the Role

This is a Permanent Full-Time position based in Australia. We are seeking an experienced Digital Transformation Leader to drive the creation and establishment of efficient 'ways of working' to ensure all teams are cost-effective, efficient, and scalable with external vendors/partners.

  • Drive cultural change, promote cross-departmental activities, and provide input into organisational-wide strategic planning forums.
  • Provide strategic advice and direction to Management on AEMO's Technology functions covering operational matters, strategies, and efficiencies.
  • Exercise sound managerial judgement and influence in adopting an AEMO position or commitment to actions.

The successful candidate will have significant experience in technology team leadership capacity managing multiple, large, cross-functional operational teams or projects and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead high-performing technology teams to deliver new development, ongoing maintenance, and operational support for AEMO-managed energy markets across the National Electricity Market (NEM), Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) and Gas markets.
  2. Manage the applications environment, framework, tools, and processes for the systems managed by the teams in this department.
  3. Ensure solutions meet business requirements, with a focus on continuous improvement and financial optimisation.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in IT, Project Management, or an equivalent appropriate discipline.
  • Experience in the energy industry or similarly highly regulated industry experience relevant to fit-for-purpose information technology and data management.
  • Good knowledge of the practices and principles associated with the operation of gas and electricity markets, wholesale and retail, and corporate systems within Australia.

Estimated Salary: $140,000 - $170,000 per annum
