Role Overview

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is seeking a talented and innovative storyteller to join our Digital News team as a Distribution & Social Media Producer. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for shaping how Australians consume news and information across our digital platforms.

This permanent, full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to craft compelling narratives, leveraging the power of social media and innovative distribution strategies to engage diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Creation: Curate and produce captivating content tailored for social media platforms, ensuring our stories resonate with diverse audiences.
  • Audience Engagement: Actively participate in community management activities and look for opportunities to start conversations with the audience to drive further commissioning decisions.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze data and audience insights to optimize content distribution and drive engagement across multiple channels.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including journalists, editors, and designers, to bring our digital news offerings to life.
  • Industry Knowledge: Stay ahead of the curve by embracing emerging trends and technologies in the digital landscape.

About You

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

  • A deep understanding of social media platforms and their communities, including Facebook, Instagram, X, and WhatsApp, with a knack for creating shareable and impactful content.
  • Exceptional storytelling skills and a keen eye for detail, ensuring our content is accurate, engaging, and aligns with ABC's journalistic standards.
  • The ability to effectively moderate comments and engage meaningfully with the online audience.
  • Proven experience in data analysis and audience insights, using metrics to inform content strategy.
  • A collaborative spirit and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • An estimated salary range of $92K - $99K.
