Job Summary

The role is centered on conducting design, development, manufacture, and characterization of mission-specific, military-relevant cast composite solid rocket propellant and solid fuels. The successful candidate will lead the development of propulsion material technology strategies to ensure the viability of integrated rocket motor and broader propulsion system designs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaboratively identify innovative solutions to emerging challenges, including new ingredients, processing conditions, or processes.
  • Prosecute work packages as part of multi-disciplinary teams to solve technical and scientific challenges.
  • Operate laboratory and pilot-scale equipment for the manufacture of cast propellant formulations.
  • Characterize chemical, mechanical, rheological, and ballistic properties of propellant formulations and rocket motor material interfaces.
About Our Team

Missile and Space Propulsion STC has an end-to-end capability encapsulating propulsion system utility assessments, theoretical design and optimization, materials development and characterization, and sub-system and integrated rocket motor development and testing.

Requirements
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with cast composite rocket propellants and associated pre-cursor materials.
  • High levels of initiative and attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate effectively in multi-disciplinary teams with minimal direction.
  • Effective communication and engagement with Defence, Industry, and academia.
  • Willingness to work with energetic materials and adhere to safety procedures.
  • Comfortable working in a high-tempo, results-driven environment.
