Ongoing 12-month contract position as a Propellant Practitioner within the Department of Defence's Missile and Space Propulsion group based in Edinburgh South Australia. For a Propulsion Engineer, Chemical Engineer or a Materials Engineer interested in enhancing the abilities of the Missile and Space Propulsion group so they can better explore, develop, and understand rocket fuel options.
- **Must have Australian Citizenship**:

- Requires Masters/PHD degree in chemical engineering or chemistry or equivalent
- Salary depends on experience.
- Edinburgh South Australia.

**A normal day **includes
- Manufacturing and casting propellant formulations under supervision.
- Conducting laboratory tests to characterise chemical and mechanical properties of propellant formulations.
- Analyzing test data.
- Maintaining manufacturing and testing facilities.
- Coordinating with workshop staff for hardware and material preparation materials for manufacture/testing
- Assisting in developing test methodologies.
- Providing additional technical support as needed by Task Leader or Group Leader Missile and Space Propulsion.
- Assisting with experimental design and instrumentation.

On average you will be working 37.5 hours a week on a 12 month contract after that Government decides whether they would like to extend the project for another 12 months (This is standard policy for all of our Defence contracts).

**Your Next Employer.**..You'll be working with the R&D department for the Department of Defence (Defence Science Technology Group, DTSG) in Edinburgh. DSTG is currently supporting research into guided weapons prototyping.

**You will need**
- Masters/PHD degree in chemical engineering or chemistry or equivalent
- Knowledge of in propellant manufacturing or related chemical processes
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques for chemical analysis and mechanical testing.
- Strong data analysis skills, including experience with statistical analysis software.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with hazardous chemicals.
- To be an Australian Citizen (ESSENTIAL)
