The Elementary School Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the school community by providing administrative and clerical assistance. This position involves maintaining accurate attendance records, communicating effectively with parents, students, and staff members, and offering general information to the public.
Key Responsibilities:- Respond to incoming telephone calls and address inquiries from staff, parents, and students in a courteous and professional manner.
- Collaborate with the lead secretary to initiate financial transactions and generate reports.
- Maintain precise records of student attendance and communicate with parents regarding truancy issues.
- Supervise students in various settings, including recess and lunch areas.
- Notify parents and guardians of student absences and resolve truancy issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- A high school diploma or equivalent education.
- One year of experience in clerical work involving public interaction and one year of experience supervising children.
- A valid State of Washington Driver's License or equivalent mobility.
- Criminal Justice fingerprint background clearance.
The Elementary School Assistant works in an elementary school office environment, with physical demands that include lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, and some stooping/kneeling. The approximate distribution is 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing.
