Job Title

Linux Kernel Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Linux kernel engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong aptitude for software engineering at the hardware level and be able to collaborate effectively with a globally distributed team.

Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate regularly and proactively with a globally distributed team to integrate platform support into the Ubuntu Linux kernel.
  2. Diagnose and resolve issues in the kernel reported by partners, customers, and the community.
  3. Take responsibility for the delivery of distinct silicon-optimised variants of the Ubuntu Linux kernel.
  4. Improve tooling and automation for the delivery and test of Ubuntu Linux kernels.
  5. Submit, review, and apply kernel patches, working with both internal and external upstream maintainers.
Requirements
  • Strong programming ability in C and a solid grasp of device drivers, BSP's, and other aspects of hardware-level system engineering.
  • A strong understanding of operating system kernel fundamentals and the ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Prior background with major SoC families, Python and Bash scripting ability, and Ubuntu/Debian/Snap packaging.
  • Demonstrated experience with Linux kernel patching and debugging, and solid understanding of performance optimisation for silicon platforms.
