AARNet, a leading research and education network, seeks an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join its team. As the organisation's trusted advisor on legal matters, you will play a pivotal role in driving its growth and success.
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled lawyer to contribute to the development of AARNet's legal strategy and provide expert guidance on commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance.
About the RoleYou will be responsible for analysing complex legal risks and implications associated with business decisions, developing strategies to mitigate them effectively, and advising stakeholders on potential impacts.
The ideal candidate will have a broad spectrum of corporate and commercial legal experience, preferably with a combination of in-house and private practice experience.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert legal advice and guidance on a wide range of matters, including commercial contracts, tenders, and regulatory compliance.
- Analyse legal risks and implications associated with business decisions and develop strategies to mitigate them effectively.
- Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial agreements, including client contracts, vendor agreements, and joint partnership arrangements.
- Manage legal risks with a focus on commercial outcomes, including drafting and negotiating complex contracts.
- Collaborate with external legal counsel when necessary and represent the company's interests in negotiations and settlement discussions.
- Current Australian practicing certificate or ability to obtain one.
- Minimum 7+ years of post-admission experience or equivalent, preferably with a combination of in-house and private practice experience.
- Broad spectrum of corporate and commercial legal experience.
- Ability and willingness to obtain criminal record checks and security clearances.
